Ken Buck Bio

Ken Buck is a respected American lawyer and Republican politician who has been representing Colorado’s 4th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives since 2015.

He was first elected to the House of Representatives of Congress on November 4, 2014 and is currently serving his fifth term as a member of the United States House of Representatives.

Ken previously served as the District Attorney of Weld County, Colorado, where he served from 2005 to 2013.

He has served on several portfolios while in Congress including the “House Judiciary Committee” & “House Foreign Affairs Committee”, “House Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial” & Administrative Law, “Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship”, and House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific and the Western Hemisphere.

Ken Buck also ran for the US Senate in 2010 but lost to Democrat Michael Bennet by a narrow margin.

Ken Buck was appointed Chairman of the Republican Party in 2019, replacing Jeff Hayes, where he served as the Chairman of the party from March 30, 2019 to March 27, 2021.

Kenneth Robert Buck was born on February 16, 1959, in Ossining, New York, to Ruth Buck (Larson) and James Buck. His parents were lawyers by profession.

Ken grew up with three brothers in Greeley, Colorado and received his primary education there. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics from Princeton University in 1981.

While attending Princeton, he played four years of football with the Princeton Tigers football team, where he led the way as a defensive back/punter/kicker.

After Princeton, Ken moved to Wyoming and earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1985.

Before starting law school at the University of Wyoming, Ken worked for a year in the State Legislative Services Office. He was also an instructor at the University of Denver Law School and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

Ken Buck began his post-law career as an attorney for Congressman Dick Cheney (R-WY) on the Iran-Contra investigation. After this he moved to Washington, D.C. Worked as a prosecutor in the U.S. Justice Department.

In the year 1990, Ken Buck was awarded the Colorado U.S. Made Chief of the Criminal Division in the Attorney’s Office, But in 2002, he left his government job to become a business executive at Hensel Phelps Construction Company based in Greeley.

In 2004, Ken Buck was elected as the Weld County District Attorney where he served three terms (2004-2013).
