Mitt Romney is also known as Willard Mitt Romney. He was born on March 12, 1947 in a wealthy family in Detroit, Michigan.
His father’s name is George W. Romney was a successful businessman who served as Governor of Michigan and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Richard Nixon from 1963 to 1969, and his mother was Lenore Romney, an accomplished housewife.
His great-grandfather Miles-Romney was one of the original pioneers who settled the Mormon colony of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Romney, the youngest of four siblings, was brought up in Detroit and received his primary education from there. He graduated from Cranbrook Kingswood School in 1965.
While studying at Stanford University, in 1966, his studies were interrupted for two years to serve in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in France, due to which he transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU) from where he Completed degree with an English subject in 1971.

Mitt Romney started his career as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) company after getting an MBA. After working in this company for about 10 years, he established his own equity firm company “Bain Capital” in 1984.
This company gradually became America’s largest equity firm from which he earned a lot of money and made his mark as a multimillionaire of America.
Political career
Romney studied law from Harvard University, which benefited him in his political career. He first ran for the United States Senate during 1993–1994 while working at Bain Capital.
In 1999, Romney was appointed Chairman and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) for the 2002 Winter Olympics, but due to his inability to reconcile business and politics, he decided to leave Bain Capital in August 2001. He left the company completely.
SLOC faced many challenges including budget constraints and lack of public support, but after Romney’s arrival, the Winter Olympics proved to be very successful due to his logical mind.
The success of the Winter Olympics opened the door to Romney’s political career. He was elected as the 70th Governor of Massachusetts in 2002, serving until 2007. During this time, he implemented many conservative policies, including tax cuts and welfare reform.
