Nancy Mace’s full name is Nancy Ruth Mace. She was born on December 4, 1977, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, U.S. Her father James Emory Mace was in the U.S. Army serving with the 82nd Airborne Division, serving two tours in Vietnam and participating in the 1964 Dominican Republic coup. After her father’s retirement, she grew up in Goose Creek, South Carolina, known as the Lowcountry.
Mace was raised in a family that valued hard work, her father was a retired Army general and her mother, Dr. Anne Mace, was a school teacher. At the age of 17, Mace, left the High School and started working as a waitress at Vafal House. However, she quickly continued her education by earning her high school diploma through classes at Trident Technical College.
Mace’s determination to succeed academically led her to The Citadel, where she made history in 1999 as the first woman to graduate from the Corps of Cadets. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with magna cum laude honours. Following her graduation, Mace continued her education at the University of Georgia, where she earned a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication in 2004.
