Angela Evelyn Bassett is a popular African-American actress, director, writer, and producer who was born on August 16, 1958 in New York City to Daniel Benjamin Bassett and Betty Jane (late.).

She is best known for her roles as Queen Ramonda in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films “Black Panther” (2018), “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” (2022). Apart from this, she is also known for starring in “Boyz n the Hood” (1991), “What’s Love Got to Do with It” (1993) and Music of the Heart (1999).

Bassett received numerous awards and honours during her illustrious acting career, including two Academy Award nominations, eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations, two Golden Globe Awards, and many more.

She was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2023, and received an Academy Honorary Award in 2023.

Bassett’s childhood was spent with her mother and sister D’Annette in St. Petersburg, Florida, as her parents were divorced.
