Who is Sandra Doorley?

Sandra Doorley is a former American Attorney born on 1963 in Rochester, New York. She served as the District Attorney of Monroe County, New York from 2011 to 2020. She was re-elected in 2015 and 2019 for second and third four-year terms.

Doorley was the first woman to hold this position in Monroe County history. In November 2011, Doorley was selected by defeating Bill Taylor, District Attorney Republican candidate of Monroe County. She was sworn in on December 30, 2011 at Rochester Girls and Boys Club.

She has been involved in various high-profile cases and has been recognized for her efforts in law enforcement and victim advocacy.

In 2015, Charles “Charlie” Tan was accused of shooting his father, gym tan at his Pitsford’s house. The case attracted national attention, especially after the preliminary prosecution of Tan was dismissed due to the prosecution’s misconduct. Doorley’s office returned the case, but it ended in a wrong way. Eventually, Tan was convicted of the allegations of federal firearms.

Thomas Johnson III was accused of killing Rochetter police officer Deril Piercene in 2014 for second degree. Doorley’s office prosecuted Johnson, who was convicted without murder and sentenced in jail without murder.
