Dr. Valerie McCray is an American psychologist and politician who recently won the Democratic primary election for the US Senate.

Dr. Valerie McCray has cleared her way forward by defeating Democratic Mark Carmichael with 67% of the votes. She is the first black woman in Indiana history to win the US Senate primary.

She will now participate in the upcoming Senate election to be held on November 5, 2024, which will decide Indiana's new US Senate.

Dr. Valerie McCray studied at Arsenal Tech High School. She earned a bachelor's and then M.A and a PhD degree in psychology from the University of Michigan in 2000.

Dr. Valerie McCray was born on June 18, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana as a Non-denominational Christian.

Dr. Valerie McCray has worked closely with several organizations during his 35-year-long career in the field of psychology, including being a clinical psychologist with Reset Psychological Services, MHM Services, Inc. This includes serving as the Clinical Director of Correctional Therapy Services and the Chief Psychologist of Correctional Therapy Services.
