Andy Beshear is an American Democratic politician and lawyer. He has recently been elected as the 63rd Governor of Kentucky. He is the son of former Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.
Beshear won the governor’s election by defeating Republican Daniel Cameron. He is serving his second term as Governor of Kentucky.
Beshear was first elected as Governor of Kentucky in 2019. He won the election by defeating Republican Matt Bevin.
Beshear began his political career in 2015 as the 50th Attorney General of Kentucky. He held this post till 2019.
He oversaw many important cases during this time, including drug crimes, corruption and environmental protection.

Andy Beshear’s real name is Andrew Graham Beshear. He was born on November 29, 1977 in Louisville, Kentucky.
His father is Steve Beshear, former Governor of Kentucky (2007-2015) and his mother is Jane Beshear.
Beshear was brought up in Louisville and completed his primary education there. He studied at Henry Clay High School, Lexington.
In 2000, Beshear received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University. After this, he received the degree of Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2003. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity in his college.
Career
Andy Beshear started his career as a lawyer after completing his law degree. In 2005, he worked on consumer protection law at the law firm of Stites & Harbison. He also worked for some time as Assistant Attorney General in his father’s administration.

For the first time in 2015, Andy Beshear contested the election for the post of Attorney General of Kentucky. He defeated Republican leader Whitney Westerfield by 2194 votes and will hold this post till 2019.

Andy Beshear announced his candidacy for Kentucky gubernatorial election in 2019 on July 9, 2018. He contested this election against Republican leader Matt Bevin and won by more than 5,000 votes. Beshear took over as governor on December 10, 2019.
