Early Career Belichick attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where he played football, lacrosse, and soccer. He then went on to Wesleyan University, where he continued playing football and earned a bachelor's degree in economics in 1975.
Coaching Career In 1979, Belichick joined the New York Giants as a special teams coach under Bill Parcells. Under Parcells' mentorship, Belichick flourished, becoming the defensive coordinator in 1985.
New England After five seasons in Cleveland, Belichick returned to New England in 1996, serving as the defensive coordinator for the Patriots under head coach Bill Parcells. The duo led the Patriots to Super Bowl XXXI but fell short of victory.
